Start Here — Staying Rounded

If you’ve landed here, chances are something about your living space has been quietly nudging at you. Maybe it’s the clutter you’ve stopped noticing. Maybe it’s the rooms that feel more like storage than a sanctuary. Or maybe you’re standing at the edge of a big decision—moving, buying, downsizing—and the usual advice just isn’t cutting it.

I get it. I really do.

I’m Ananya Sharma, and for over a decade, my work has revolved around one quiet question: what does it actually take to feel at home—within yourself, and within your four walls?

That question has taken me through many seasons. I’ve guided people through building intentional routines, cultivating mindfulness, and learning the art of letting go—of habits, of noise, of the pressure to constantly do more. But somewhere along the way, I started noticing something I couldn’t unsee. The people I worked with were doing the inner work, yet their physical spaces remained untouched—chaotic, heavy, mismatched with the lives they were trying to build. And honestly? I saw the same pattern in my own home.

So I started there. I decluttered. Then I kept going. I let go of a sprawling flat in Mumbai and moved into a compact, thoughtful apartment in Pune. It wasn’t a downgrade. It was the most grounding decision I’ve ever made.

That shift rewired something in me. I realised that home isn’t about square footage, postcodes, or what the market says is valuable. It’s about whether your space actually holds you—calmly, practically, and in a way that aligns with the life you want to live.

That’s what Staying Rounded is now about.

Who this is for

This site is for Indians who feel disconnected from their living spaces. You might be:

  • Tired of homes that demand constant upkeep without giving much peace in return
  • Thinking about downsizing but unsure where to start—or how to reframe it as something other than loss
  • Navigating the home-buying process and craving guidance that goes beyond EMI calculators and square-foot rates
  • Longing to settle—truly settle—into a home and a community that feels rooted, not restless

If any of that resonates, you’re in the right place.

What you’ll find here

Every piece I write circles back to the same core idea: your home should support your wellbeing, not complicate it. Practically, that means:

  • Downsizing with clarity. Not just decluttering tips, but the emotional and practical layers of letting go—and what waits on the other side.
  • Buying with intention. How to approach one of the biggest financial decisions of your life with a clear head and a grounded heart, not just market FOMO.
  • Settling into grounded living. Creating rhythms, spaces, and connections that make a house feel like a home—for the long haul.

I don’t do checklists for the sake of checklists. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all formulas. What I offer is thoughtful, experience-backed writing that treats your home as an extension of your inner life—not a showcase.

Where to begin

If you’re new here, I’d suggest starting with a few pieces that capture the heart of what I’m exploring:

  • On downsizing: Read about the emotional journey of leaving behind a larger home—and what surprised me most on the other side.
  • On home buying: A grounded framework for making purchase decisions that prioritise how you want to live, not just what you can afford.
  • On settling in: What it means to truly arrive in a place—beyond unpacking boxes and setting up furniture.

I publish regularly, and everything I write comes from lived experience or deep, honest conversations with people navigating the same terrain. No fluff. No hard sells. Just the kind of guidance I wish I’d had when I was in the thick of it myself.

A small note on the archives

You might stumble across older pieces here that feel a little broader in scope—posts on mindfulness, daily rhythms, personal growth. I’ve left them up intentionally. They’re part of my story, and the threads that run through them—simplicity, intention, letting go—are the same threads I pull on today. The lens has simply narrowed, and sharpened, toward the place where all of those threads land: home.

Stay connected

I write for the quiet ones. The ones who want their home to feel like a deep breath, not a status symbol. If that’s you, I’d love for you to stick around.

You can bookmark this page, share it with someone who might need it, or simply come back when you’re ready to take the next step—whatever that looks like for you.

Thanks for being here.
